Music
our vision....
Our vision for music at Key Stage 3 is to inspire all students to develop a lifelong appreciation of music through creativity, performance, and critical listening. We aim to provide an inclusive and engaging curriculum that allows every student, regardless of prior experience, to explore their musical potential.
Through a diverse range of musical styles, cultures, and traditions, students will build confidence in performing, composing, and appraising music. We encourage curiosity and self-expression, enabling learners to experiment with ideas and develop their own musical voice.
Music at KS3 will foster key skills such as teamwork, resilience, discipline, and creativity. Students will have opportunities to perform both individually and collaboratively, using a variety of instruments, voice, and music technology.
By the end of Key Stage 3, students will:
Understand and apply the fundamental elements of music
Perform with increasing confidence and technical control
Compose original music using a range of techniques and tools
Listen to and evaluate music with insight and understanding
Appreciate music from different cultures, genres, and historical periods
Ultimately, our goal is to nurture confident, reflective, and enthusiastic musicians who value music as a powerful form of communication and personal expression.
