Drama

Our vision....

At the heart of our Performing Arts curriculum is the belief that every young person is inherently creative, and that Drama and Music provide powerful avenues for students to explore their identity, build confidence, and understand the world around them. Through a rich and ambitious curriculum from Year 7 to Year 11, we aim to develop students who are expressive, resilient, collaborative, and culturally aware—equipped with the skills and passions that will support them both in school and beyond.

Our curriculum nurtures creative risk‑taking, enabling students to develop as performers, composers, designers, directors, and critical thinkers. We celebrate the Performing Arts as disciplines that cultivate empathy, communication, emotional literacy, and an appreciation of diverse voices, traditions, and perspectives.

In Drama, students learn to shape narrative, create meaning, and articulate ideas through performance and design. They develop imagination, confidence, and analytical skills, building toward the demands of the Eduqas GCSE Drama & Technical Award in Performing Arts course, where they refine their ability to devise, interpret text, and evaluate theatrical practice.

In Music, students become active musicians—performing, composing, and listening with increasing independence and mastery. Through a wide variety of genres, technologies, and practical experiences, they build the musical knowledge and skills foundational for Eduqas Technical Award in Performing Arts, including stylistic understanding, compositional technique, and informed appraisal.

Across both subjects, we aspire to create an inclusive environment where all students can express themselves, discover new passions, and work collaboratively. We provide opportunities for all learners to participate in ensemble work, live performance, workshops, trips, and community events, embedding the Performing Arts as an essential and joyful part of school life.

Ultimately, our vision is for students to leave KS4 as confident, articulate, creative, and culturally literate individuals who value the arts and understand their importance in shaping society. Through Drama and Music, we empower young people to find their voice—on stage, in the classroom, and in the wider world.
